Custom Woodwork Made for Your Space

Custom woodworking gives you the opportunity to create pieces and details that fit your space, your style, and the way you use your home or business. Whether you are looking for live-edge furniture, bar tops, countertops, island tops, mantels, beams, flooring, moulding, paneling, custom trim, or floating shelves, Wood Ingenuity can help bring the idea to life with care and craftsmanship.

Our process is rooted in the material itself. The team often begins with fallen, unwanted, or salvaged trees, giving local wood a second life through milling, drying, crafting, and finishing.

From Salvaged Tree to Finished Piece

One of the advantages of working with Wood Ingenuity is the ability to connect the material, design, and build process. The company began in 2014 after a massive White Oak fell during a storm on Jim Boyle’s farm in Queen Anne’s County. What started as a father-son effort to salvage the tree led to the purchase of a 67-inch Wood-Mizer WM1000 sawmill and the launch of Wood Ingenuity.

Today, the team operates a full-service custom woodworking shop capable of milling, kiln drying, and crafting pieces that bring out the best in each unique cut of wood.

Local Wood with a Second Life

Wood Ingenuity’s process often begins with a fallen or unwanted tree. Whether the wood is salvaged from a storm or removed for construction, the team gives local trees a second life by turning raw material into thoughtful, lasting pieces.

Each log is milled in-house and allowed to air-dry as long as possible to help preserve its color and character. Once ready, the wood is transferred to the kilns for final drying so it becomes stable and ready to be crafted into furniture, surfaces, trim, or custom details.

Designed Around the Larger Vision

A custom woodworking project should look beautiful, but it also needs to fit the space with balance, proportion, and purpose. Wood Ingenuity has in-house designers who specialize in kitchen, bath, and interior spaces, allowing the team to integrate custom wood elements into a larger design vision.

Whether you need a statement piece or a subtle detail, the design team can help guide and refine the concept so the finished work matches your space and style.

Our Custom Woodworking Process

1

Sourcing and Upcycling

The process often starts with a fallen, unwanted, or salvaged tree. Wood Ingenuity gives local trees a second life by turning them into useful, lasting pieces.

2

Milling and Drying

The team mills each log and allows it to air-dry as long as possible to preserve its color and character. Once ready, the wood is moved to the kilns for final drying.

3

Design and Crafting

Every piece is designed and built in the woodshop, where attention to detail and precision craftsmanship guide each cut, joint, and finish.

4

Finishing Touches

Wood Ingenuity uses high-quality oils, finishes, and hardware to support longevity, function, and beauty.

5

Install or Final Delivery

The final stage brings the finished piece or detail into the space, whether it is a statement furniture piece, custom trim, shelving, a mantel, or another crafted wood feature.

Custom Woodwork for Kitchens and Baths
